A fire sprinkler system is an economical choice when considering fire suppression options. Sprinkler systems consist of water supply piping with adequate pressure and flow-rate, onto which fire sprinklers are connected. Activated by heat (not smoke- a common misconception), a sprinkler head will spray water into the room if sufficient heat reaches the bulb, causing it to shatter. Sprinkler heads operate individually. The water dispersed throughout the room suppresses the fire, but also gets everything in the room wet, potentially causing permanent damage to sensitive IT equipment.
